Learn these super uplifting ways to give yourself self-love coming from my own personal experience.
There are many ways to give yourself self-love, and it’s important to know the best ways to show yourself some love. It is often difficult to find time in our busy lives to dedicate to ourselves.
What is Self Love?
Self-love is the way how you take good care of yourself with as much kindness, compassion and respect as you do your friends, loved ones, or family. You don’t always have to be perfect.
There are times when we need a little self-compassion so that we can go on with our lives and not get stuck in one area of disempowerment like anger, sadness, and the like. This post will talk about some ways to give yourself self-love!
Self-love gives us the ability to recover and heal from difficult moments. It also provides a way for us to nourish ourselves without having any preconceived notions about what that means or looks like.
Self love is not selfish, it’s self-caring.❤️
It’s important to take time out of the day just for you so you can do things that bring joy in your life—whether this be reading a book, having a relaxing massage with scentful essential oils, watching your favorite series, taking a walk at the park, or journaling your precious life moments.
Make sure you’re practicing self-love at least once per day with something small but powerful such as 15 minutes in silence.
Here are 8 simple yet recharging ways to give yourself the self-love that you so deserve:
Play Your Favorite Album and Dance Around Your Room
Pick your most loved track hidden on your rack and turn your player ON. Move around, dance with the beat of its music, and ride the vibes! Sing along, close your eyes, smile and let loose.
Give your body the happy hormones it so deserves after a long strenuous time at work or after a hectic schedule of errands.
It’s about time you move those joints as cheerfully as you always should. Do it for you.
I personally play my favorite Kdrama OST (official soundtrack) or favorite Kpop music at certain times for this reason.
I also play old music since I am an old soul who tends to love a blast from the past every now and then. My favorite old songs include those of Kenny Rogers and Lionel Richie.
Take a Warm Self Love Bath with Your Favorite Essential Oils and Crystals
Essential oils have high frequencies and they’re very uplifting! So crystals create a space with supercharged energy.
Take a warm bath with these self-love support tools and listen to some relaxing music while you soak in the tub for at least 30 minutes.
To tell you honestly, my life changed for the better when I started exploring and using essential oils for my day-to-day activities. Essential oils help me calm down, relax and be productive throughout the day.
Whenever I feel agitated, nervous, or anxious, I grab my box of calming essential oils and diffuse it in my diffuser or rub the oil with my hands and inhale its aroma.
Another way is I blend my essential oils with a carrier oil and apply it topically through applying it on my heart and crown chakras.
Most of the time, I also apply it on my feet, where the largest pores of the body are for fast absorption. It always helps.
Get Yourself an Ice Cream or Buy Something That You Love
Get an ice cream, its coolness makes you feel all cool, too! Or buy yourself something you really like. It doesn’t mean it has to be the most expensive though, just something that will make you feel enormously happy.
But don’t often get a sweet treat for yourself though because, of course, this is time for self-love and too much of something can be unhealthy. So also pick food treats that are not heavily sugar loaded!
Buy yourself a bouquet of flowers. It doesn’t matter if they are for no reason other than you need some self-lovin’ right now. This for sure is one of the precious ways to give yourself self-love.
Look through old photos of times when you felt happy, smiling, inspired and loved. Immerse in those beautiful feelings and emotions again.
You could also journal about what made them special to you. Make sure there are no distractions like TV or the internet as this will help your focus.
Do Self Love by Reconnecting with Nature
Take a walk and listen to the sounds of nature. You can bring along your headphones with soft music if you don’t like going outside alone in silence.
Walk for at least 30 minutes, even better if it’s outdoors. Feel free to take pictures as reminders that you are indulging in this beautiful moment just for YOU!
You can also do this by going to the beach and savoring the breeze. Sea water has healing properties and it can heal you in many ways mind, body and spirit.
Reconnecting with nature by grounding is one of the healthy and enriching ways to give yourself self-love.
Self Love by Reading an Inspiring Book
Spend some time quietly reading an inspiring book or watching a favorite movie while snacking on something yummy.
This could be intentional self-love if you’re feeling particularly low, but also good for times when we need encouragement during our busiest days.
Bonus points if they are dark chocolate-covered strawberries – because how often do we indulge ourselves these days? 😉
Find your happy place while doing so. Find somewhere where you feel safe and free to be yourself.
You can go for a walk in nature, find your favorite spot at the park, or even just curl up on your bed with some of your most prized possessions that remind you of who you are.
Speak Positive Affirmations to Yourself
“I am blooming, I am beautiful, I am loved, I am worthy…”
These are just some of the healthy and positive affirmations that our own selves deserve. We deserve positive talk, too.
Make sure to spend time talking about what’s going well and feeling grateful. Find someone close to talk out any challenges or stressors that may have been weighing heavy on your mind lately.
This will help alleviate them! Write down three things each day that went successfully even if they were small so you don’t forget how much good is happening in your life. 🙂
Self Love by Having “ME” Time Often
Find time every day to take care of yourself. You deserve it.
Make sure you’re eating healthy and working out for your mind, body, and soul.
Take some me time every day. Just because you have kids or a job doesn’t mean they should be all up in your business 24/7! This is about YOU taking care of YOURSELF first so that you can use everything else as fuel.
“You cannot pour from an empty cup.”
Yes, this might be a cliché, but it’s every bit as true.
The people that truly love you need this from you too! Find something fun each day like reading, practicing meditation for mindfulness, talking on the phone with friends who don’t live close by… whatever works best for you.
Take a break every now and then, even if it’s just to get out of the house for an hour or so. This way, you’ll be able to prevent burnout.
Find Your Passion in Life and Work On It
Whatever it is that sparks joy within you is what your soul longs for and wants. Follow each of your soul’s yearnings because for sure, that will make your heart content.
Whatever that passion may be, make time for that, and put all your energy into doing something you really love!
This will help you feel better about yourself because there are no doubts or regrets with this kind of thing and when we’re happy like this, we know our true selves the most.
This is What I do:
I find time every day to take care of myself. I make sure my family eats healthy meals while balancing working out for my mind, body and soul.
I meditate while having aromatherapy by diffusing essential oils that currently resonate with me.
I eat healthy myself because I know it’s one of the ways to give yourself self-love and it’s also how you can take good care of your loved ones more.
It doesn’t matter how many kids I have, I believe that taking care of myself comes first before anything else. Sometimes I need more than one hour and sometimes I need to get out of the house.
When I do these things, it’s not because someone else wants me to but because that is what makes me feel good. The more time I put into doing something that brings about the best in myself, the better my life will be.
