Essential oils have been used since ancient times, but many people continue to underestimate their healing powers, especially when it comes to ailments that often go undiagnosed. During these trying times of the pandemic, it won’t hurt to stack on the best essential oils to help boost immune system, help you calm and relax during stressful situations and keep your frequency up and flowing.
Remember, your frequency determines what you will be attracting into your life.

What if you could treat and cure your own cold or flu with essential oils? Many people have successfully done so, either by using them directly on the skin or by diffusing them in an oil diffuser throughout the house, and also through inhaling the aroma directly from the essential oil bottle. It is best to use a combination of both approaches since they each offer different ways to engage your senses and thus reap the full benefits of using essential oils for health
What are Essential Oils?
Essential oils contain volatile aromatic compounds (meaning scented) found in bark, stems, seeds, roots, flowers/cones/calyx or any other part of the plant. Essential oils are best extracted via distillation, a process that uses a variety of techniques to separate the essential oil from the rest of the plant.

The best essential oils are those that have been distilled using steam. Young Living Essential Oils use steam distillation that allows for best preservation of the oils’ chemical components.
Steam Distilled vs. Cold Distillation
While both methods (steam or cold) produce very high quality essential oils, a major difference in characteristics exists between them. The steam method produces an oil with fewer impurities and more of the original smell of the plant than does cold extraction.
There is also very little residue from this method as opposed to some processes that leave behind chemical residues that may be harmful to the body in large doses over time. This makes it best to use only steam-distilled essential oils even if they cost a bit more than their less pure counterparts .
How Essential Oils Help During This Time of the Pandemic?
Essential oils are such a great help during time of the pandemic because essential oils have both anti-microbial and anti-viral properties. Not only do they fight the symptoms of the virus, but they also promote healing in a way that no over-the-counter drug can. They are best used with a carrier oil to ensure effectiveness.
The best essential oils for this time of pandemic also have some other benefits worth looking into. And here are the best essential oils that you will need to help you get through this pandemic with ease and grace.

The pandemic is causing a host of problems for many people around the world and one issue that keeps coming up time after time is sinus infections or congestion, often caused by a virus. When this occurs, nothing works better than Peppermint to clear your head and let you breathe easier. Just use a few drops in an oil diffuser to help clear out those infected sinuses.

Frankincense as an Anti-Viral Natural Remedy

Frankincense essential oil is one of the most sacred oils in history due to its anti-viral power. When you have a lot of people in close quarters, it is easy to spread viruses and bacteria. One drop on your handkerchief can help protect you from germs that may be floating around. It also helps to fight against depression and soothe your anxiety when this time of pandemic begins to take over your life.

Cedarwood is best known for its anti-microbial properties, helping your body fight against these viruses that have been wreaking havoc everywhere. It can also help with healing open wounds in a way that no other oil can. The best part is that it comes with little to no side effects like those of the Tamiflu and Relenza, which means more healing without having to worry about medications or their side effects.
Cypress essential oil has been used for centuries as an antiseptic, helping fight against bacteria and viruses—particularly during this pandemic outbreak. Its smell is very soothing and calming, something we all need after weeks upon weeks of stress caused by the virus.

The smell acts as a natural sedative and helps you to relax, while the healing properties work their way into your body.

Peppermint + Lemon + Oregano + Cypress – for an All-Purpose Virus Spray
- This is one of my favorite combinations for use during a pandemic.
- Take 10 drops each of Oregano and Lemon essential oils
- 5 drops each of Cypress and Peppermint
- Then add 2 Tablespoons distilled water to a spray bottle.
- Shake well before spraying everywhere the virus might be lurking.
If you can’t find distilled water, fill up your spray bottle with tap water and let it sit for several hours so that the chlorine evaporates (the easiest way is to leave it sitting out in the sun for several hours). Otherwise, this will kill many beneficial bacteria in your home as well.

Diluting Essential Oils with a Carrier Oil
When using essential oils for any healing purposes, always dilute them with a carrier oil first before applying them to the skin. Otherwise, the skin would become irritated by exposure to pure oil without dilution . The best container for these oils are dark glass bottles , but if you do not have those available, then go ahead and use plastic containers (just try and keep out of direct sunlight).
If you are going to use plastic containers and keep them in sunlight, then make sure that you also place a layer of dark material (such as coffee filters) between the light and the oil. The more filtered they are from any type of light exposure, the better off your essential oils will be.

Diluting essential oils with a carrier oil is very simple: just take a drop or two of your chosen essential oil (just one at first to test if it will cause irritation). Then add 15 drops of carrier oil such as Olive , Jojoba or Coconut . Shake well before each use. Do not drink the mixture and remember that this is not intended for internal use! Mixing these with water does not dilute them enough and can still cause irritation to the skin.
If you do not have a problem with using essential oils or carrier oils, then there is no need for refrigeration . Carrier oils are natural and can be stored at room temperature, as long as they are sealed in a dark container that blocks out any light. Just make sure your hands are washed before using them to apply essential oils.
